THE EFFECT OF INEFFECTIVE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IN NIGERIA..   By Umar Abdulmumeen Kayode (Almudir official).

It's no more  news that, Nigeria is a great nation endowed with a lots of natural and human resources.  It should have been a cornerstone for her to rise above some other nations but, the reverse is the case  "today we are in a state of anarchy and great chaos"...   Howbeit,  I shall discuss the only way out  that could mitigate the level of anarchy and  the mess we are into.

JUSTICE has being defined severally by erudite jurists, Authors and different philosophers. PLATO, a Greek philosopher said  " justice is a sort of specialization".

Plato in his philosophy gives very important place to the idea of justice. He used the Greek word "Dikaisyne" for justice which comes very near to  'morality' or 'righteousness', it properly includes within it the whole duty of man. It also covers the whole field of the individual's conduct in so far as it affects others. Plato contended that justice is the quality of soul, in virtue of which men set aside the irrational desire to taste every pleasure and to get a selfish satisfaction out of every object and accommodated themselves to the discharge of a single function for the general benefit.

It will be incomplete to define justice without a link to the legal parlance. In a strict legal analysis, justice is defined as the maintenance or administration of what is just, especially by the impartial adjustment of conflicting claims or the assignment of merited rewards or punishments. in other words, justice  is the constant and perpetual

disposition to render every man his due.

The absence of a fair administration of justice  system in our Dear country has contributed so much to the mess we are into.  The fact that criminals whom are expected to be serving their jail terms respectively  are being exonerated by the supreme authorities without any legal justification, will continue to worsen the situation of the nation.  let there be fair justice system, equality before the law  and strict application of the rule of Law.   If a criminal is brought before the court, let there be rapid proration of justice as to avoid illegal prerogatives.

It's traumatizing  how people no longer see the Court as a room of hope for everyone who seeks for justice,  rather we take  laws into their hands.

Lord Denning(of a blessed memory) postulated thus,

"The freedom of the just man is worth little to him if he can be preyed upon by the murderer or thief.  Every society must have the means to protect itself from marauders. it must have power to arrest, search and imprison those who break the laws.  as long as those powers are properly exercised, they are themselves safeguard of freedom."

_RT Lord Denning MR_

It's a collective responsibility, let fix it and Nigeria will rise again..
