Courts in Nigeria
INTRODUCTION.
In every society whether civilized or barbaric , there is always a standby legal system and a system of adjudication of matters, this system is known as court system in modern societies. In this work, we shall consider the meaning of court, their establishments, their jurisdictions and their hierarchy.
The meaning of court shall be examined in two phases;
Court as the man who mans the court: Fedrich Carl von savigny has so many times referred to judge as the court, this is because it is the presence of a judge in a room that makes it a court and he's the sole person who in controls of the court.
The court as a room where justice is administered: Court has been defined as a room
where matters and disputes are heard and determined in accordance with the law. Court consist of, Judge(s), Registrar, interpreter, bailiff, Lawyers as well as the litigants to whom case at hand is related.
LAWS ESTABLISHING COURTS IN NIGERIA.
basically, there are two laws establishing courts in Nigeria;
1. The constitution
2. An act of the National Assembly or state house of Assembly.
